That's my name, don't wear it out ;-)
But what's in a name anyway?
See below for an incomplete answer...
By The Way, it's Jerry, not Gerry, which some people have gotten wrong for years...
Gerry Hyland is a different guy.
Gerry Connoley is a different guy.
As is George, curious or otherwise, and W ;-)
With the recent loss of David from our group and including David O'Brien Memorial on NoVAPeers, attending the memorial services, and trying to deal with the loss, I've been wondering what my memorial service would be like, also a common exercise in looking at oneself and life in general, though belaboring it can be another issue... Probably not to include much God or preaching in a service, but hopefully GOD (Good Orderly Direction), maybe something like a celebration of my life, not entirely fun, but serious as well.
When I think sometimes of what I would leave behind, it might be a memorial library. My grandmother didn't like the thought of people 'pawing through her things', but other people were antique dealers, and liked seeing odd, unique and old objects... I certainly have an appreciation for some of them, though the aesthetic and practical value of a 3/4 bed was a little much...
I like Books, but do not find much time to read them. My life might eventually make a good book, though probably not that interesting as a movie. I like graphics and frequently take pictures of places I travel, even found objects all the way through the mundane. As a slideshow, there would likely be few pictures of me, somewhat due to a self image issue, but hopefully of people, pets, nature, places and things that I liked. I've toyed with some of the tech of multimedia and just pictures might not be enough, but telling a story as well possibly with SMIL. I've audiotaped myself some like on a bike tour to Cumberland, MD along the C&O Canal, but huffing and puffing makes for some audio notes, but not much for a news sound byte...
I like to bike most of the time. Trying not to be road kill, but might happen, as the odds are probably for it...
My sense of humor, remembering David was a good jokester, is dry, very dry. Wearing a Bike To Work Day tshirt to a work like event 200 miles away. You'd need to know me pretty well to tell when I was joking. Even trained professionals, with decades of experience can not usually tell. "I can not tell a lie" Abe Lincoln may have once said. (See also digression of Lincoln in Atlantic Monthly...) I just don't see the point. Most people don't believe the situations I'm in anyway, and I found decades ago that I'm just not good at lying, so why bother? And if you have to explain the cosmic joke, does anyone get it anyway? Or if a bear sits in the woods, did the tree fall? ;-]
For example, seeing a turtle in the road, on the way to a Herding Turtles class, moving dreadfully slow going to a meeting/training, where most people preach prompt attendence, has some comic relief, but again, would need to see some humor in it, and not bitch about the late part, but glad that I got there safely, and not expired from "a random act of stupidity" tm aka bike touring in the heat advisories...
Common sense, it turns out, is not all that common. What a Paine ;-)
Does Recovery mean getting back to where you were before someone else probably determining you were sick?
Does it mean Wellness and happiness?
Or is it more existential?
Or is it a personal relationship with self, a higher power and others?
Your contributions to society?
Your friendships?
What you leave behind?
Someone once said that when people lie in a hospital bed at the end of their life and they do not wish for more work, money, etc? Perhaps people don't consider unless they are homeless and die because of the lack of those essential basic material needs... Or couldn't get a bed and die because of it?
I have created an individual account on this PBWiki to show who edits what.
I also have the account where I created this PBWiki.
There is a limitation of multilevel security on this PBWiki. The granularity of user accounts is not fine at all. One password for the entire wiki. Anything finer would require Premium service :-(.
Something like it might also be used to control access levels, like eventually administrator privileges.
In many situations, these roles would be Web Designer and Webmaster. But we are consumers as well, so we don't count in this game...
see also MeetingNotes.
p.s. YMMV

Subject: RE: Presentation to the NVRPP group on Friday
Jim B and I are both attending because of our co-chair spot on
Finance. As I said, I was "volunteered" to talk about Service VII, as I
would already be this meeting. (Doug could also have provided that
synopsis, as he will be there.) Even though this meeting was supposed to be
for the NVRSPP's Steering Committee to have an early opportunity to talk
with the newly-elected RRWG officials, I don't think that anyone is
specifically excluded.
If you'd like to present Service VII, I can't imagine anyone saying "no" to
that. Everyone is aware that you're the Prime driver of that activity ..
which is why I sent you the e-mail and asked for input.
We have a pre-meeting in the Herrity Building cafeteria at 9:30 a.m. and
then will be having our meeting with the NVRSPP's Steering Committee in Room
122 of the Herrity Building at 10:30 a.m. It's the latter meeting in which
a 3-minute synopsis of the Service VII effort will be provided, along with
the other activities.
Please attend both Friday morning meetings if you desire to do so. If you
can't make it, I'll try my best to give a short concise synopsis.
Regards,

why don't you stick with treasury?
or would that not be back stabbing enough for our "leaders"?
